let’s hug soon

friends in a line

Many things. Things to follow. Here are the things:

  • First thing.
  • Second thing.
  • Just kidding. I wouldn’t do that to you.
  • There is a thing, though. Two, actually. Well, two things I can’t or am not ready to share. One thing will be revealed on Saturday. (WATCH FOR THIS THING.) The other thing has been partially revealed, but I don’t want to talk about it in this space today. Soon though.
  • Well, wasn’t THAT annoying. I’m mostly sorry.
  • This is the first Christmas our little family of three will be alone. It’s going to be bizarre-sad-wonderful. Steve and Emma seem to be done their shopping. I’m not sure how that happened, but worst case scenario is they get no presents and I get many. That doesn’t sound terrible.
  • I’m almost done the first of three prize toques. I increased the stitches after the brim (cuff?) and I’m knitting it long for a hipster-style slouch toque. Hopefully one of my winners can pull off Hipster. If not, I’ll give it to my friend, Marie.
  • I’m happy. I’ve changed my life and I keep changing it a little more every day. I’m working hard to be healthy and I’ve made progress. Beautiful, beautiful progress.
  • I’ve met new people who are making my life full and good. Jessica, Lynne, Cecily, Sarah x2 (both with an ‘h’), Erica M., Scot, Jocelyn, Annabelle, Barb, Monique, Ashe, and “Wheat.” Seven I’ve never met in person. The internet is my favourite. HEARTICONS TO YOU ALL.
  • I miss my Alberta homies.
  • Steve is playing a loud, weird game beside me on his iPhone. Lots of grunting and sword clinking. I thought you should know.
  • I had lunch downtown today with four fantastic women and I expected to feel out-of-place and silly. I felt neither. My heart had a big, stupid grin all the way home. Or maybe that was me.
  • Oh, you guys, I’m excited to tell you what’s happening on Saturday. EXCITED.
  • In the new year I’m going to get funky red hair. And maybe go short in the summer. (Yes, Steve: short.) I love short.
  • I’m sad with the rest of you about Newtown. Nothing in my life seems all that horrible anymore. Late Friday night we realized we’d missed the deadline to book our Groupon for a two-night getaway in Portland. We lost $200 and I thought, “This doesn’t matter.”
  • Anne and Brené have thoughtful posts.
  • I love you. I hope you’re well. Let’s hug soon.

HI! Getting to know you has been a highlight of 2012 for me. I am definitely going to start blogging again soon (current status – writing a content strategy. Srsly)

    CAN’T WAIT UNTIL SATURDAY.

    D’aww. <3

Also, as a person with blue hair, I say go all out. I get tons of compliments on mine and – more importantly – it makes me feel like a badass.

    • Shannon

Thanks for coming over here once I bossed you. I used to have pink hair! We should be friends on FB so you could see all my hair colours. I love changing my hair.

      You ARE a badass.

  • Lynne

Awww, thanks lovely! Meeting you has seriously been a highlight of this year for me. It’s not easy to find kindred spirits (Anne of Green Gables FTW!! ;) and I’m so stoked we managed to connect–and even more stoked about what 2013 will bring! I’m so glad you made it to lunch yesterday–those little get togethers are like booster shots of positive energy and you totally added to the awesome. Big *hugs* back and hopefully I will see you next week for my very first drunken knitting lesson! Squeeeee! <3

    • Shannon

Brought together by Anne of the gables that were green. Doesn’t get any better. I’m glad we finally connected. More lunches and more meeting and more friendship. To 2013!

  • http://just-mum.blogspot.com/ Jessica @ Just a Mum?

I love coming here… you always make my day a little brighter. I’m still bummed we’ve never “met” met, since I didn’t know of you until *after* Blissdom – but happy I’ve found you virtually. To 2013; may it be full of new people to hug!

(p.s. That slouchy toque looks adorable! Don’t know if I could really pull it off, but darn willing to try ;)

Wait a minute, you’re a gifted, hilarious writer *and* you make toques? No fair, getting two huge talents for the price of one! I think I got shorted. Oh, and we fully expected you to turn up at Christmas this year. Since you haven’t (yet), you missed my opening the heartfelt Fart By Mail a dear friend sent me. Should guarantee your attendance next year. We’ll take Steve, Emma and the dog, too.

    • Shannon

You definitely did not get shorted, m’lady. I love your blog!
